Foshan, called Chan for short, is located in the hinterland of the Pearl River Delta, and in the central part by south of Guangdong Province. It is connected to Guangzhou to the east,Shanghai Travel, neighbors Jiangmen and Zhougshan to the south, borders Zhaoqing to the west and Qingyuan to the north, and is within 100 km from Hong Kong and Macao. Under the administration of Foshan are the Shiwan District and four county-level cities, namely Nanhai, Shunde, Sanshui and Gaoming. With a total area of 3,813.64 square kilometers, Foshan is a famous cultural city with a long history. ¡¡Foshan is the birthplace of the Yueju Opera, and the famous hometowns of martial arts, arts, potteries and cate. ¡¡¡¡ ¡¡¡¡The climate in Foshan is characterized by the monsoons in the subtropical zone with an average temperature between 21.2 - 22.2¡æ.

¡¡¡¡Zhanggong District is where the city government of Ganzhou is located, and visitors can find many cultural sites here. Ganzhou boasts 7 cultural relics sites under the national protection, 48 under the provincial protection, and a lot of historic sites, mainly including the well preserved city wall of the Song Dynasty (960-1279), the magnificent Dajing Terrace, the Yugu Terrace, the Temple of Literature and the Tongtian Rock, etc.

The world-famous Long March started from Ganzhou. Numerous revolutionary historical sites are preserved in the city,Shanghai Travel, among which Ruijin, the Red Old Capital, is the most famous.

West Street, located in the very center of the city, is 2,000 meters long, and eight meters wide. The road is covered with marble, and boasts various buildings with strong ethnic flavor on both sides. The street is a gathering place for various souvenir and snack shops. The exotic nightscape also adds extra glamour. ¡¡¡¡Yangshuo not only boasts picturesque landscapes, but also rich cultural heritage. Ancient construction, bridges, and stone carvings can be spotted in the beautiful natural scenery. West Street gathers a lot of foreigners, with more than 20 shops run by people from outside China, and it has helped give the area a "global town" image. A special feature on the street is the communication and interchange of Chinese and foreign cultures. Foreigners can learn Chinese, calligraphy, Taiji, cooking, and Chinese chess, while passing international languages and culture to Chinese in bars, shops, or schools. ¡¡¡¡Many foreign tourists usually come to the street after their trips in Guilin and to the Lijiang River, and many are say they are overwhelmed by the area's beauty, and then decide to stay. It is reported that the rate of inter-country marriages in Yangshuo is the highest in the nation. Many of the buildings along the street also follow Western styles. Most of the houses are three- or four-stories tall, with bell towers and castle-like tops.
